Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional customer service to the public while following privacy laws and regulations.
- Assist customers with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, and issuing permits and license plates.
- Administer knowledge, skill, and vision tests to potential drivers and provide information about regulations and policies.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and count inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months of experience collecting money and making change.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with stressful situations.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Experience handling multiple assignments and frequent interruptions.
- Experience effectively interpreting and communicating complex rules and policies to customers or clients.
