Financial Manager Job Description

Spherion is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Prepare financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets and results.
  • Manage banking relationships.
  • Reconcile multiple bank statements, domestic and international.
  • Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger.
  • Examine tax policies and interact with the outside tax firm.
  • Prepare commission reports for review.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns for US and Canada.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable as needed.
  • Assist with collection of accounts as needed.
  • Ensure accurate product costs are set by other departments.
  • Provide backup Payroll processing as needed.
  • Acts as the Corporate Secretary/Treasurer.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in business finance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Background in Sales and Use tax is useful.
  • Understanding of state, federal, and international financial regulations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
