About the Role

Aurora Innovation is seeking a highly skilled Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the development of our Lidar product. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the program's activities, including design, experimental builds, firmware integration, and product validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Lead program management activities for the Lidar product, including managing design activities, experimental builds, firmware integration, and product validation.
  • Timeline Creation: Create timelines considering top-down program constraints and bottoms-up technical development feasibility.
  • Communication and Tracking: Take ownership of communication and tracking with respect to program scope, risk, and cost.
  • Reporting and Meetings: Create weekly reports and run programmatic meetings with appropriate level of detail for the respective audience.
  • Supplier Management: Support supply management and engineering in supplier selection and developing partnerships with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Obstacle Removal: Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress, identify gaps in communication or schedule, provide support to teams balancing competing priorities, and drive results.
  • Dependency Management: Define dependencies and resolve conflicts related to hardware maturity, availability, quantity, and allocation of development, evaluate risks, and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders.
  • Culture Development: Instill an efficient program management mindset by introducing tools or processes that could support workflows, decision-making, change management, schedule adherence, roles and responsibilities clarification, communication plans, action tracking, and budget tracking.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, project management, and/or engineering leadership within a technical field.
  • Project Breakdown: Minimum of 5 years breaking down complex projects into manageable milestones, delivering them in a successful and timely manner, and organizing content for broad communication.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate (verbal and written) succinctly and effectively to various global audiences at all levels.
  • Collaboration: Master collaborator: impeccable attention to detail and organization, ability to influence, motivate, and generate goodwill with teammates while juggling multiple projects at once.
  • Technical Aptitude: Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks.
  • Scaling Experience: 2 years of experience taking a technical product to a contract manufacturer and scaling.
  • Risk Management: Experience managing Risk Registers.
  • Schedule Management: Minimum of 3 years of experience with a schedule management software equivalent to SmartSheet or Microsoft Project and demonstrating clear dependency management within the system.
  • Spreadsheet Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience using spreadsheets.
  • Location: Able to be located in Bozeman, MT.
  • Travel: Ability to travel, up to 50%, including international travel.
