Job Title: Supervising Attorney for Training, Assigned Counsel Plan

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Supervising Attorney for Training, Assigned Counsel Plan to lead our training and mentoring program for 18-B Panel attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law and procedure, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for 18-B Panel attorneys on criminal law, evidence, and procedure.
  • Collaborate with the Assigned Counsel Plan Administrators, 1st and 2nd Appellate Divisions of New York State, and the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice to design and deliver innovative training solutions.
  • Conduct outreach to 18-B Panel attorneys, courts, bar associations, and other organizations to assess training needs and ensure that the Assigned Counsel Plan is providing relevant and effective training.
  • Identify and engage expert presenters to deliver high-quality training sessions.
  • Develop and update training materials, including live training and webinars.
  • Implement pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar.
  • Eighteen months of experience in the supervision of other attorneys in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.
