Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Conducts routine and advanced laboratory evaluations on clinical samples across various laboratory departments under guidance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Executes a range of standard and intricate procedures adhering to established protocols to deliver accurate clinical data. Confirms the analytical accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity of testing methodologies. (50%) Manages, calibrates, inspects, and maintains laboratory equipment. Identifies issues with quality control and testing processes, taking necessary actions to ensure reliable clinical results. (30%) Engages in initiatives to stay informed about evolving technologies and practices. (5%) May gather and prepare patient samples in accordance with laboratory guidelines and within specified time limits. (5%) Ensures the cleanliness of the workspace and maintains sufficient supplies for effective laboratory operations. (5%) May provide mentorship to MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and laboratory processing students, as well as new staff, in laboratory testing following organizational policies and procedures. (5%) Performs additional tasks as assigned or necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Associate's degree in an ASCP eligible program or equivalent. Must meet ongoing educational requirements for certification.

Preferred

Experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
