Position Overview

DAP is seeking a highly skilled Director of Procurement to oversee our corporate procurement operations.

The Director of Procurement will be accountable for acquiring all essential materials, packaging, supplies, contract manufacturing, and other purchased components. This role will spearhead the development of procurement strategies and direct the corporate procurement activities while guiding the procurement teams within plant operations. The successful candidate will ensure that all product and material acquisitions align with cost objectives and established quality benchmarks, emphasizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulates and leads the overarching procurement strategy. Develops and executes category strategies that achieve cost and quality objectives while minimizing risks and ensuring supply security.
  • Collaborates closely with senior management to align procurement strategies with organizational goals, delivering financial outcomes by achieving or surpassing cost savings and working capital targets.
  • Establishes a robust supply chain and identifies new suppliers to enhance supply security, including the assessment of international procurement opportunities. Leads DAP's Supplier Relationship Management initiative to foster continuous supplier performance improvement.
  • Manages contracting and RF(X) processes. Facilitates contract negotiations to secure favorable terms.
  • Creates new processes and tools to promote data-driven decision-making and ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory policies.
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities for the corporate procurement team and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with RPM Center Led Procurement to identify and implement projects that leverage the corporation's overall purchasing power.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a technical field, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline; a master's degree in business administration or relevant certifications such as Certified Procurement Management (CPM) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managing procurement and sourcing functions within a large manufacturing environment; experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or the chemical industry is advantageous. Familiarity with offshore sourcing and importation issues is highly valued. A minimum of five years of direct management experience with procurement professionals is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of business principles and procurement management techniques, including procurement and cost analysis, along with current trends in domestic and international sourcing.
  • Proven track record in enhancing procurement functions, evidenced by reduced costs, improved delivery, and successful sourcing strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership and advocacy skills to enhance sourcing and procurement performance, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely across various settings.
  • Comfortable in both informal discussions and formal presentations, adept at maintaining relationships with logistical and procurement support sources, and negotiating with internal and external parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts with minimal disruption to relationships and processes.
  • Creative problem-solver with the ability to evaluate complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on motivating and leading team members.
  • Skilled in organizing and managing administrative activities, including staff selection, performance monitoring, and departmental effectiveness evaluation; capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Driven by a strong commitment to execution and results.
