DAP is seeking a Head of Strategic Sourcing to lead our procurement initiatives from our corporate office.

The Head of Strategic Sourcing will oversee the acquisition of all essential materials, packaging, supplies, contract manufacturing, and other purchased components. This role will be pivotal in shaping procurement strategies and guiding the corporate procurement team, while also offering support to plant operations procurement units. The primary objective is to ensure that all purchases align with cost objectives and established quality benchmarks, emphasizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs the formulation of a comprehensive procurement strategy. Develops and executes category strategies that achieve cost and quality objectives while managing risks and ensuring supply security.
  • Collaborates with senior management to align procurement strategies with organizational goals. Achieves financial targets by realizing cost savings and optimizing working capital.
  • Establishes a resilient supply chain and identifies new suppliers to enhance supply security, including the exploration of international procurement opportunities. Leads DAP's Supplier Relationship Management program to foster continuous supplier performance improvement.
  • Manages contracting and RF(X) processes. Facilitates contract negotiations to secure advantageous terms.
  • Creates innovative processes and tools to support data-driven decision-making and ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and professional development to the corporate procurement team and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with RPM Center Led Procurement to identify and implement projects that maximize the corporation's purchasing power.

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in a technical field, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline; a master's degree in business administration or relevant certifications such as Certified Procurement Management (CPM) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managing procurement and sourcing functions within a large manufacturing environment; experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or chemical sectors is advantageous. Familiarity with offshore sourcing and importation issues is highly regarded. At least five years of direct management experience overseeing procurement professionals is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of business principles and procurement management techniques, including knowledge of procurement and cost analysis, as well as current trends in domestic and international sourcing.
  • Proven track record in enhancing procurement functions, evidenced by reduced costs, improved delivery, and successful sourcing strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership and advocacy skills to enhance sourcing and procurement performance, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey information clearly and concisely across various communication platforms. Ability to think critically and respond effectively in diverse situations.
  • Comfortable engaging in both informal discussions and formal presentations, maintaining relationships with logistical and procurement support sources, and negotiating with internal and external parties.
  • Skilled in resolving conflicts with minimal disruption to relationships and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to devise innovative solutions by thinking creatively.
  • Capacity to analyze issues from multiple perspectives and develop effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Adept at communicating intricate technical matters related to procurement and sourcing to diverse audiences, including suppliers, peers, and senior management.
