Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Check refrigerant charge and repair leaks to prevent system failure
  • Test thermostats and controls to ensure accurate temperature settings and timer functions

  • Check electrical system and connections with an IR camera to identify potential issues
  • Check blowers and blades for proper airflow and vibration to ensure optimal system performance
  • Lubricate motors, bearings, and moving parts; replace as needed to prevent wear and tear
  • Test for and repair gas leaks to prevent system failure and ensure a safe working environment
  • Troubleshoot and correct all equipment failures to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability
  • Track all failures and PM records in CMMS and on paper logs to ensure compliance and accountability
  • Perform other general maintenance, housekeeping, plumbing, and electrical duties as required to support the team
Requirements
  • Three to five years' experience in HVAC equipment and controls maintenance, preferably in an industrial/commercial environment
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and schematics as required
  • Ability to read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment
  • Ability to use a variety of power tools, hand tools, and meters safely
  • Hands-on ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Compliance with all policies, safety guidelines, and procedures; follow all contract specifications and maintain compliance
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures
  • Government security clearance or ability to obtain upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field desired
  • Universal HVAC Certification required
Physical Requirements

The work environment, while generally hazard-free, may include some exposure to dust and varying temperatures. This position may require lifting up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Constant walking and standing for extended periods of time may be required. Reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, and balancing may be needed. Significant hand and finger dexterity is required.

Work Hour Requirements

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and may include some shift work, including Saturdays and Sundays. Ability to work overtime as needed.

Essential Personnel

This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.
