Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for performing duties requiring a high degree of skill and technical competence in the selection, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical power, control, and alarm systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, development, and installation of new and existing electrical systems up to 600 volts AC.
  • Design and build special purpose electrical and power equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, including welding machines and exhaust fans.
  • Install and troubleshoot power, control, and low-level cabling associated with various systems installed across campus, including DC power.
  • Assist in the maintenance section with inspections and repairs in various buildings on the main campus and off-site campuses.
  • Respond to work orders and close upon completion.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and serve as a member of the Energy Committee and Safety Team.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and experience in the construction and repair of secondary electrical systems.
  • An Electrician's license or certification is required.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-to-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An associate degree and 4 years of directly related experience, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
  • A high school diploma and 6 years of directly related experience, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
