Psychiatrist - Intensive Care Specialist

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Overview: MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, is seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to provide specialized care for veterans experiencing complex psychiatric and substance use disorders. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality mental health services are delivered to those who have served our country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses, and crisis interventions.
  • Collaborate within the Psychiatric Evaluation Center (PEC) to enhance patient care.
  • Perform safety and risk evaluations for veterans in emergency situations.
  • Manage acute cases, including triaging suicidal patients referred to the PEC.
  • Provide occasional coverage for inpatient psychiatric units and consultations.
  • Administer Ketamine and Esketamine treatments as needed.
  • Deliver Electric Convulsive Therapy (ECT) to appropriate patients.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with on-call responsibilities.

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • Probationary period may be required for new hires.
  • Background and security investigations will be conducted.
  • Completion of an online onboarding process is necessary.
  • Pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Participation in vaccination programs for influenza and COVID-19 is mandatory for healthcare personnel.
