Job Title: Recreation Specialist

Join the City of Laredo, TX team as a Recreation Specialist and contribute to the development and implementation of recreation programs and services for the community.

Job Summary

The Recreation Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising recreation center activities, including afternoon summer programs, youth programming, and payment collections. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and supervise recreation center activities, including afternoon summer programs and youth programming.
  • Assist patrons with registration and payment; input information into system; provide information about activities and future events.
  • Maintain cleanliness of recreation center; clean and sanitize assigned areas.
  • Perform related work as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Less than 1 year experience in recreational program or camp counseling, working with children, recreation programs, or related experience.
  • Valid Infant, Child, & Adult CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid First Aid certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.
Work Environment

The Recreation Specialist will work in an office or similar indoor environment, with occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body, up to 10 pounds occasionally, and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
