About This Role

The Butler Creek Animal Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals, including kennel areas, runs, treatment areas, and outside grounds.
  • Feed and care for hospitalized animals and boarders, ensuring their nutritional and emotional needs are met.
  • Monitor and record important information about animal conditions, behavior, and habits, including elimination, eating, and other vital signs.
  • Walk animals three times a day to promote exercise and socialization.
  • Notify veterinarians or veterinary technicians of any unusual medical or behavioral problems.
  • Clean treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas daily, maintaining a high standard of hygiene and organization.
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with restraint and treatment of animals, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Monitor and maintain kennel inventory, including food, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, and other essential items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the clinic, client care, and team collaboration.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekend and vacation shifts.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations.
  • Physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Previous experience as a kennel assistant or similar role.
