About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Care Supervisor to join our team at Emory University. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of husbandry and care for our research animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of one large animal care facility or multiple small facilities.
  • Assist investigative and veterinary staff in providing exceptional animal care.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of research animals, reporting any abnormalities to the veterinary staff.
  • Supervise the maintenance of research animals, their cages, and facilities, ensuring compliance with federal animal and research regulations.
  • Train and supervise staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of animal husbandry or related animal care experience, including one year of laboratory animal experience and one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • The ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous animal care experience, preferably in a research environment.
  • AALAS certification.
  • Collaborative and team-spirited, with a passion for animal care and welfare.
Working Environment

This role requires working in a typical laboratory animal facility environment, with some exposure to hazards or physical risks. The ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat is also required.
