Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Operator to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency situations, including snow and ice removal, to ensure the safety of our roads and highways.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as equipment inspections and repairs, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as snowplows and graders, to maintain our roadways and highways.
  • Participate in training programs to stay up-to-date on the latest safety procedures and equipment operation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve our maintenance goals.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment, including snowplows and graders.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Valid CDL and DOT medical card required.
