Job Description

At the Texas General Land Office, we are seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Specialist III to join our team. This role will play a critical part in our agency's mission to serve the schoolchildren, veterans, and environment of Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities and serve as a liaison between the state agency and governmental and legislative entities.
  • Perform highly advanced legislative and consultative work, including policy analysis and research.
  • Assist in creating fiscal impact statements and drafts background summaries, bill analyses, and other requested documents related to legislation and policy issues.
  • Proactively communicate with state and local officials, as well as with other state agencies, to facilitate coordination and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts within the Texas General Land Office to deliver strategic government relations guidance and insights.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a field relevant to the assignment.
  • Three to five years of experience working with the federal or state legislature, legislative staff, or research services.
  • Experience representing the agency in Legislative Sessions, including attending legislative/congressional hearings, meetings, and other functions with legislative/congressional staff and other legislative/congressional liaisons.
