Communications Manager Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Communications Manager to join our team at the Vancouver Housing Authority. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our communications strategy, creating engaging content, and building relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to promote the Vancouver Housing Authority's mission and services.
  • Write and edit engaging content for various channels, including press releases, social media, and our website.
  • Manage our social media presence and create content that resonates with our audience.
  • Collaborate with our web developer to ensure our website is up-to-date and visually appealing.
  • Interview staff, clients, and volunteers to capture their stories and experiences.
  • Design promotional assets and work with creative vendors to create engaging materials.
  • Lead media relations, including crisis communications, with confidence and professionalism.
  • Train and support staff and volunteers for media appearances and presentations.
  • Represent the Vancouver Housing Authority to media, partners, and community stakeholders with energy and positivity.

Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Previous experience in communications and/or marketing is preferred.
  • Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of $98 per hour, with a bilingual pay differential.
  • A full-time, non-exempt position working 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend and holiday work.
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance for the employee only.
  • 11% paid into WA PERS by employer, 12 company-paid holidays, and generous paid time off and separate sick time accrual.
