The Inventory Allocation Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing store inventory by analyzing forecasts and customer demand to ensure optimal product assortment while maintaining profitable inventory levels across the entire chain. This position requires strong collaboration with buying and planning teams to develop, maintain, analyze, and implement chain-level item plans and allocation strategies for both new and existing products.

The Inventory Allocation Specialist will report directly to the Allocation Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a brand ambassador for The Paper Store.
  • Oversee the daily execution of initial and replenishment allocations by store to maximize sales, margin, and inventory turnover, ensuring strong in-stock levels across assortments.
  • Analyze e-commerce and store forecasts to determine consistency with each location's sales potential.
  • Ensure the timely flow of orders throughout the company, from product allocation to receipt of goods in the warehouse, through the distribution center, and onto store shelves.
  • Collaborate closely with Planners and Buyers to define allocation strategies, assortment plans, and initial inventory levels. Maintain regular communication regarding all matters related to replenishment and inventory allocation.
  • Work with warehouse staff to resolve any order issues and maintain case pack data for efficient product processing across the chain.
  • Develop and monitor store opening assortments and unit plans for both new and remodeled stores to ensure adequate opening stock levels.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of store, district, and regional performance, variances, trends, and attributes through extensive data analysis and communication with the field, applying insights to allocation strategies.
  • Validate presentation minimums to ensure sufficient inventory is available to support planned events, promotions, catalog efforts, specific store needs, and floor placements.
  • Recap and report on location and product selling performance using various custom reporting systems.
  • Provide recommendations to the Director of Allocation for ongoing improvements related to forecasts, replenishment, and inventory turnover.
  • Engage in continuous training regarding technological advancements and process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with peers to share best practices and maximize system knowledge.
  • Perform additional inventory management tasks as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-4 years of relevant retail experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Familiarity with MicroStrategy reporting is a plus.
  • Possess a positive, collaborative interpersonal style and a growth mindset.
  • Excellent listening and communication abilities.
  • Capability to effectively multitask, prioritize, and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Professional presentation in attire, demeanor, and appearance.
