AECOM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on supporting our Environmental business line, with an emphasis on Federal projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employ fundamental scientific principles, theories, and existing technologies to devise solutions for technical challenges of limited scope.
  • Utilize standard field practices and techniques with basic field equipment to gather samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and sediment; prepare samples for transport, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Apply knowledge of natural sciences, including chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics, to interpret observations.
  • Prepare basic data and scientific documentation.
  • Conduct unsupervised field operations.
  • Oversee staff in the execution of assigned tasks.
  • Review analytical data for general quality indicators based on established guidelines.
  • Coordinate with project managers and collaborate with on-site subcontractors and field personnel to support sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise and support as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (e.g., geophysics, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in standard office software applications.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and colleagues.
  • Strong writing skills to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Additional Information:

Physical demands include frequently lifting, carrying, and loading equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Previous experience operating a full-size pickup truck is beneficial.
