Role Summary:

The Counselor is responsible for delivering individual, group, and family counseling, as well as crisis intervention services. This role entails providing direct counseling and support services to clients in alignment with organizational policies and programs. The Counselor collaborates with a team, contributes to program development, and works alongside school administration to ensure effective cooperation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs counseling interventions and programs tailored to meet the needs of clients within the educational setting.
  • Conducts clinical assessments for each client.
  • Facilitates individual counseling sessions for students.
  • Offers family support and crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Engages in teacher training and school in-service presentations.
  • Completes weekly documentation and special administrative tasks as required.
  • Participates in staff development and mandatory training sessions within Youth Guidance and affiliated schools.
  • May involve providing services in home or community settings, in addition to school-based services.
  • Collaborates with school administrative and behavioral health teams to coordinate services.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Training:

  • Master's degree in social work or a related human services discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in youth engagement and positive youth development.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and services.
  • Experience within educational or youth-related systems, such as child welfare, juvenile justice, or mental health facilities.
  • Possession of LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LCPC, or LPC licensure.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
  • Capable of working independently while taking ownership of tasks.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and awareness of the impacts of systemic oppression on marginalized communities.
  • Adept at engaging youth in creative and meaningful ways.
  • Employs a positive, team-oriented approach to client care.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is highly preferred.
