Direct Support Professional

The Direct Support Staff position at Advo Companies is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with varying needs. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our residents.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the health and safety of all individuals by notifying medical personnel of any symptoms of distress or illness, maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment, and conducting evacuation drills as requested.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments, monitor and document accurate times of seizures, PMAB restraints, and other time frames as directed.
• Ensure all daily hygiene and grooming needs are performed, including toileting, bathing, and shampooing, hair and nail care, shaving, oral hygiene, dressing, and general hygiene and grooming.
• Prepare and serve meals according to menu and diet guidelines, practicing recommended sanitation techniques, and providing all recommended adaptive feeding equipment.
• Implement continuous Active Treatment with all individuals through conducting and documenting goal-related training objectives, daily living skills, and community outings.
• Ensure individual rights by maintaining confidentiality, assisting with maintaining contact with family and friends, treating individuals with respect, and supervising trust fund expenditures and use of personal funds.
• Provide safe transportation by transporting individuals to regular activities and scheduled outings, maintaining a valid Texas Drivers License and insurability, and maintaining clean appearance and condition of vehicles.
• Ensure the smooth operation of the home by maintaining cleanliness and appearance, performing duties necessary to the operation of the home, notifying the Home Supervisor of needed supplies and materials, and completing laundry duties as directed.
Requirements:
• GED, High School Diploma, or ABLE test (provided on site) along with 3 letters of recommendation.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Texas Drivers License.
• Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and have a good driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and have the ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and maintain a regular work schedule, and be open to overtime and work hours other than those regularly scheduled.
• One-year experience in human delivery services preferred.
