Job Summary

Amarillo College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Tutor to join our team at the Ware Academic Success Center. As a key member of our academic support team, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic goals by providing personalized tutoring and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality tutoring services to students in a one-on-one or small group setting, focusing on specific course material and academic challenges.
  • Develop and implement effective study techniques and time management strategies to help students improve their academic performance.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting tutoring strategies as needed to ensure optimal results.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to align tutoring services with course objectives and curriculum.
  • Provide guidance on test preparation, homework, and exam strategies, as well as offer support in developing a growth mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and session outcomes, reporting to academic staff as required.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of student peer tutors, ensuring the effective delivery of tutoring services.
  • Stay current with course materials and curriculum changes, utilizing the center's resources to enhance tutoring sessions.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business, Accounting, Finance, English, Math, Social Sciences, Music, CIS, Biology, Chemistry, or Science.
  • One semester or more of tutoring experience in the applicable subject matter, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other tutors to ensure consistent and aligned support for students.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Proficiency in using computers and computer programs, including Watermark, Blackboard, Microsoft Office, and other educational applications.
