Job Title: Direct Support Staff

At Advo Companies, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Staff to join our team. As a Direct Support Staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Staff will work under the general supervision of the Home Supervisor to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all individuals in the home. This includes maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment, conducting evacuation drills, and accompanying individuals to medical appointments.

Responsibilities:
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of all individuals by notifying medical personnel of any symptoms of distress or illness, maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment, and conducting evacuation drills as requested.
  • Daily Hygiene and Grooming: Ensure all daily hygiene and grooming needs are performed, including toileting, bathing, hair and nail care, shaving, oral hygiene, dressing, and general hygiene and grooming.
  • Meal Preparation: Complete meal preparation, including preparing meals according to menu and diet, serving meals and snacks in a normalized atmosphere, and practicing recommended sanitation techniques.
  • Active Treatment: Implement continuous Active Treatment with all individuals through conducting and documenting goal-related training objectives, conducting and documenting daily living skills, and integrating skill development emphasized outside of the home.
  • Individual Rights: Ensure the individual rights of all individuals by maintaining confidentiality, assisting individuals in maintaining contact with family and friends, and treating all individuals and authorized visitors with respect.
  • Transportation: Provide safe transportation for individuals to regular activities and scheduled outings.
  • Home Operations: Ensure the smooth operation of the home by maintaining cleanliness and appearance, performing duties necessary to the operation of the home, and notifying the Home Supervisor of needed supplies and materials.
