Job Summary

The Family Support Worker provides direct home services to support case plan goals, promoting the well-being and stability of children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct in-home services, including parenting skills, life skills, child development, and behavior management.
  • Supports case plan goals through teaching, role modeling, and demonstration.
  • Participates in case conferences, family meetings, client assessments, and team decision-making processes.
  • Assists families in establishing a support network with family, kinship, and community.
  • Refers clients to community services and assists in arranging appointments as needed.
  • Provides intervention for children and families in crisis situations.
  • Collaborates with the court system and follows court protocols, including appropriate business attire.
  • Participates in court proceedings, including testifying, and ensures court orders are followed.
  • Works collaboratively with Case Managers assigned.
  • Completes and maintains accurate written documentation in child/family case records within established time frames.
  • Supports kinship and foster families to maintain placements and help children work toward permanency.
  • Participates in team meetings, sharing pertinent information about children/families' progress, critical trends, barriers, and solutions to achieving outcomes.
  • Supervises and transports children and families as needed.
  • Reports critical incidents to DHHS.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year child welfare direct service or related experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a drug screen, Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Background Check, DHHS APS and CPS Central Registry Checks, and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.
  • Lifting requirements 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid TX driver's license, acceptable driving, and reliable transportation.
