JOB SUMMARY
This role acts as the principal sales representative for a larger, more intricate property. The individual is accountable for proactively seeking and managing substantial group and catering opportunities that hold significant revenue potential. The goal is to cultivate, establish, and sustain long-term, value-driven relationships with group customers to meet both personal and team revenue objectives. Depending on the requirements, the focus may be on various account types or may specialize in specific segments (e.g., Corporate, Association, etc.). Ensures that business is transitioned appropriately and promptly for effective service delivery in line with brand standards. Provides exceptional service to clients to enhance account growth.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or a related professional area. 6 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major; 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Market Understanding & Revenue Maximization
• Comprehends the overall market landscape - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc., and knows how to position against them.
• Targets group accounts, markets, or segments with a strong emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
• Identifies, qualifies, and solicits new accounts with a focus on business growth.
• Strives to meet personal and property revenue targets.
• Closes optimal opportunities for each property based on market conditions and specific property needs.
• Identifies and develops new market opportunities.
Creating & Implementing Catering Sales Strategies
• Develops and executes an effective catering sales strategy.
• Implements designated catering sales tactics to cultivate and solicit specific accounts to achieve revenue targets.
• Utilizes negotiation skills and creative selling techniques to secure business and finalize contracts.
• Achieves solicitation and prospecting objectives.
• Maintains and expands business from existing accounts.
• Designs, develops, and markets innovative catered events.
• Manages operational aspects of booked business (e.g., generating proposals, drafting contracts, customer correspondence).
• Maintains accurate customer, account, and opportunity data.
Building Successful Partnerships
• Collaborates effectively with Strategic Accounts, Convention Bureaus, and other property counterparts to drive revenue, ensure customer satisfaction, and enhance market share.
• Develops and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Utilizes sales resources and administrative/support staff efficiently.
• Cultivates and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers, industry organizations, and brand networks to facilitate future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
• Leverages intranet for resources and information.
• Manages group or interpersonal conflicts effectively.
• Participates in site inspections.
• Drafts contracts as necessary.
• Executes and supports brand's Customer Service Standards and property's Brand Standards.
The hourly pay range for this position is $48.56 to $67.79. Marriott offers a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan at 15% discount, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account (except for positions based out of or performed in Hawaii), flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, and other life and work wellness benefits.
