Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic who is proficient in the installation, operation, and maintenance of various ventilation and air conditioning systems, ranging from small ventilators to large rooftop units.

The ideal candidate will be adept at analyzing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration systems, addressing mechanical, electrical, and piping challenges. This role encompasses residential, commercial, and research-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and gas-related issues in gas-fired furnaces, boilers, and rooftop units.
  • Diagnose complex control problems in non-refrigeration systems, including vacuum systems, fluid pumping systems, air compressors, dryers, humidifiers, steam heating systems, and pressure reducing stations.
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, bending, and carrying weights of 50 pounds or more, with potential lifting requirements exceeding 100 pounds.
  • Respond to management's scheduling needs, including overtime and shift work, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Engage in snow and ice removal tasks as required.

This position may expose the employee to electrical hazards while troubleshooting control circuits and working around high-pressure refrigerant systems. The work environment may include cramped spaces and extreme temperatures, with potential exposure to loud noises and unpleasant odors. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience, with at least two years in heating and air conditioning repairs, maintenance, or installation.
  • Proficiency in electrical controls troubleshooting using manufacturer schematics.
  • Possession of a valid EPA Refrigerant Usage Card within one year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license required for operating vehicles as part of job duties.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Capability to work at heights and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.

Preferred:

  • Vocational/Technical degree in HVAC or related field.
  • Four years of successful experience in heating and air conditioning repairs, maintenance, or installation.
