Job Summary

The Government Affairs and PAC Manager provides critical support to the Department of Government Affairs and Clinical Practice at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This role involves advocating for policy priorities at the federal and state levels, as well as managing the AACAP-PAC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily operations of AACAP-PAC, including budget management, fundraising, and federal reporting compliance.
  • Plan and implement the annual federal legislative conference, including meeting scheduling, promotions, and material development.
  • Manage federal and state action alert communications via grassroots advocacy tool VoterVoice.
  • Coordinate Congressional Fellow and Resident Advocacy Scholar program activities, including application and selection processes, event scheduling, and project management.
  • Provide staff liaison support to select AACAP member committees, including the AACAP-PAC Board of Directors and AACAP delegation to the AMA House of Delegates.
  • Draft bi-weekly Advocacy Update member emails.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Department on advocacy and policy-related communications, including web updates and social media content.
  • Work with the Finance department to process check requests and member/staff reimbursement requests.
  • Attend and report on policy meetings, hearings, and conferences, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a concentration in health policy, political science, or public health.
  • Minimum of three years related experience.
  • Congressional and/or state policy work experience preferred.
  • Political action campaign management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical association work preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and member service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, social media platforms, and internet research required.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as with other staff members.
  • Positive attitude, pleasant demeanor, and willingness to learn and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
