Job Overview

Safari Club International is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Government Affairs Coordinator to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role will play a critical part in our advocacy efforts, working closely with the Government Affairs team to track and monitor legislative action and deliver high-quality digital, print, and social media communication services.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track breaking and developing news stories related to hunting and wildlife conservation.
  • Draft and disseminate letters, documents, and reports to stakeholders, including government officials, media outlets, and SCI members.
  • Manage and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and logs to track legislative action and SCI's advocacy efforts.
  • Produce information by collecting, analyzing, and formatting text, data, and graphics to facilitate review by the Government Affairs team.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, conferences, seminars, and special events, including arrangements for catering, furniture, equipment, and space rental.
  • Reconcile and process expense reports for the D.C. office's senior leadership team.
  • Coordinate SCI-PAC activity and maintain operational service contracts for professional services, maintenance, and service agreements.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of hunting and hunting implements, laws, traditions, and customs is essential.
  • Experience drafting content for various audiences, including internal memos, press releases, and social media posts.
  • Advanced photo and video skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Washington, D.C., politics, government, and international travel and affairs is strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software, including OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
