Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team at Alameda Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany, assist, and represent the needs of patients to other providers.
- Administer medications and provide wound care, ADLs, and other essential patient care activities.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify nursing care plans, preparing required records and reports.
- Gather and assess patient information to meet nursing needs, assist and consult with physicians in procedures and diagnostic tests, and contract physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information.
- Provide oversight to staff monitoring telemetry systems, alerting primary nurses of changes in underlying rhythms and life-threatening arrhythmias, interpreting and posting telemetry strips, and admitting and discharging patients with telemetry units as needed.
- Organize, supervise, make adjustments, and accept responsibility for the quality of care provided by coworkers for a given work period, assuming responsibility as a team leader or charge nurse when assigned.
- Participate in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, setting up and controlling the environment essential for infection control.
- Participate in implementing patient care standards, infection control standards, and quality assurance criteria, assisting with conducting studies, and participating in unit and other meetings.
- Provide and evaluate patient care established standards and criteria in conformity with the nursing care plan, monitoring patients for significant and critical changes, initiating procedures as required, documenting care given according to set standards and at required intervals, interpreting and explaining procedures, regimens, and services to patients and families, teaching patients and family members health care and disease prevention techniques, preparing patients and/or area for procedures and operations, assisting physicians, using instruments and equipment related to the area of assignment.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum six months experience as a Clinical Nurse I with AHS or the equivalent of one year full-time recent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty; completion of an approved refresher course may be acceptable.
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California required.
- Preferred licenses/certifications: TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course (for Emergency department only), CCRN - Critical Care Registered Nurse, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA - American Heart Association, may be required per facility or unit/department specialty according to patient care policies, BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association, other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
