Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor staff responsibilities and activities, addressing deficiencies and informing Component Managers of concerns.
  • Review and evaluate program requirements and records, ensuring compliance with regulations and agency policies.
  • Complete required reports and turn in to appropriate personnel by deadlines.
  • Ensure staff meet job expectations and supervise required program services for children and families.
  • Engage in ongoing assessment of service quality and inspect facilities, grounds, equipment, and vehicles, correcting any problems found.
  • Recruit, assist with interview processes, and orient new employees, communicating job expectations and assisting with staff schedule development.
  • Assign, monitor, and assess staff performance in conjunction with Component Managers, listening and responding to staff concerns.
  • Establish staff meetings, encouraging exchange of ideas, information, and concerns, and attending management staff meetings to relay information to center staff as needed.
  • Keep administration informed of center activities and problems, and assist with keeping parents and families informed of center schedules and activities, needs, and concerns.
  • Provide supportive, positive leadership and guidance to center staff, being positive, cooperative, and supportive of all management and administrative staff.
  • Enforce quality service to Head Start families, responding to questions and concerns, and resolving problems concerning service to Head Start families.
  • Attend parent committee meetings, special family events, and Policy Council meetings, encouraging and supporting volunteer participation.
  • Maintain contact and collaboration with child care providers, public schools, early childhood education institutions, local health departments, local health care providers, and other community service agencies and programs.
  • Maintain compliance with all transportation regulations, including establishment of routes, monitoring route length, monitoring transportation staff, and monitoring vehicle safety requirements.
  • Understand responsibility of being a mandated reporter for Child Abuse and Neglect, reading and understanding Child Abuse and Neglect Policy, and performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Possess or obtain a Child Development Associate credential (CDA).
  • Possess an A.A. degree in early childhood education or degree in a field related to early childhood education.
  • Possess experience working in a Head Start or other comparable Early Childhood program.
  • Possess experience supervising employees.
  • Possess experience in human services management, including program planning, operations, and evaluations.
  • Possess experience with the use of computers and management information systems.
  • Obtain Missouri Chauffeur's License within 60 days of employment.
  • Obtain initial medical exam and TB assessment within 30 days of employment, and complete a medical exam and TB assessment every five years following initial employment.
  • Pass background screen, child abuse/neglect screen, drug screen, and be subject to random drug testing.
Working Conditions

The Site Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, with a risk of exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and risk involved with travel on main highways, side streets, and rural roads during the transportation of children. The position requires the ability to lift 55 pounds, many times a day, climb into the school bus, bend, kneel, and squat frequently, and stand for long periods of time, as well as stoop, squat, run, and sit in child-sized chairs and/or on the floor.
