Position Summary

The Community Real Estate Senior Accountant will report directly to the Community Real Estate Finance Director. This role is crucial in managing the daily accounting functions for over 36 residential and commercial properties, development initiatives, and the corporate entity. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with finance team members to ensure robust systems and procedures are in place for effective program execution and seamless audits. This hybrid role requires in-office presence three days a week and remote work for two days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and report financial data and supporting schedules accurately and promptly, ensuring senior leadership is kept informed of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial outcomes.
  • Conduct Balance Sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Identify and implement improvements in processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency and standardization.
  • Manage intercompany entries and prepare both recurring and non-recurring journal entries as necessary. Assist in drafting notes for financial statements.
  • Handle complex accounting transactions and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Collaborate with finance staff to ensure compliance with external audits and stakeholder requirements.
  • Oversee financial management for programs and grants, ensuring expenditures align with budgets throughout the grant lifecycle and prepare timely financial reports for various stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in affordable housing development.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with MIP Abila and Yardi Voyager software is advantageous.
