Established as a pivotal recommendation from the AFL-CIO Commission on the Future of Work and Unions, the Institute plays a crucial role in shaping the dialogue around technology and labor.

Position Summary

We are in search of an experienced Strategic Communications Lead to enhance our outreach and promote our mission to a broader audience across the nation. This role encompasses the development of comprehensive communication strategies, supporting various initiatives, and fostering both internal and external networks. Additionally, the Lead will oversee the establishment of the Institute's digital presence, including its website and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute a communications strategy aimed at effectively engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with collaborators to design and implement communication plans.
  • Produce compelling content tailored for diverse platforms.
  • Monitor media coverage and trends to provide pertinent information to stakeholders.
  • Cultivate relationships with journalists and prepare stakeholders for media interactions.
  • Create communication materials and collateral.
  • Oversee social media engagement and coordinate media events.
  • Assess progress and set objectives for enhancing brand visibility.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the field of communications.
  • Innovative, resourceful, and driven by data.
  • Proficient in crafting advocacy materials and adapting messaging for various audiences.
  • Experience in social media strategy and brand management.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of the AFL-CIO.
  • Exceptional skills in relationship building.
  • Strong capabilities in project management.
