Job Summary

The George Washington University is seeking a highly skilled Director of Communications and Marketing to lead the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing initiatives for the Law School. This is a key role that will drive the university's reputation and tell its story through various channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to enhance the Law School's reputation and visibility.
  • Manage and maintain strategic communication channels, including the website, social media, e-newsletters, and print publications.
  • Collaborate with the Law School administration to evolve the school's communications and marketing efforts according to best practices and strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Work closely with faculty and senior administrators across the Law School and the university to develop and execute communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, legal professionals, legal scholars, prospective and existing students, alumni, donors, and the GW Law community.
  • Lead the team's efforts in marketing and communicating across various platforms, both traditional and non-traditional.
  • Develop and manage budgets for communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital media and website management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with higher education or legal education is a plus.
  • Experience implementing and developing new systems and/or programs and executing strategies.
  • Experience developing and coordinating customized multi-channel campaigns for individual programs.
  • Experience working within a higher education environment and leading matrix staff located in multiple sites.
