Ardelle Associates is seeking a highly skilled Legal Assistant to support the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of Arkansas at the Little Rock branch office.
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity for personnel with legal experience to support ongoing criminal prosecutions. The USAO strives to defend national security, improve safety and quality of life in our communities, and protect public funds and financial assets of the United States.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide administrative support to assigned Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs), including automation support and other administrative tasks.
- Maintain and update calendars for assigned prosecutors, check prosecutors' mail daily, and schedule meetings with agents, witnesses, and others.
- Update internal databases with defendant and case information, court settings, and hearings.
- Assist prosecutors in preparing and submitting administrative request forms, preparing indictment packets, subpoenas, and other court-related filings.
- File documents with the Clerk's office as needed.
- Assist with special projects as determined by prosecutors and legal administrative specialists.
- Maintain case files and ensure they contain pertinent documents, and assist with uploading and saving court filings and other documents to cloud drives.
- Work closely with legal administrative specialists to prepare for trial and assist with preparing photo boards, maps, charts, and other exhibits.
- Two to four years of related experience providing assistant to attorneys and preparing legal documents or paralegal certification.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal relations and good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong clerical skills, including typing and filing.
- Ability to work in several complex electronic data systems to enter and retrieve information.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Accurate recordkeeping.
This is a full-time contract position (40 hours/week) for a one-year contract. Scheduled hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. This is primarily an in-person position.
