About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geoprocessing Software Engineer II to join our team at Esri. As a key member of our geoprocessing development team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of a comprehensive suite of 2,000+ geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS Pro.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with our team to build spatial data processing software that is user-friendly, has good performance, and produces correct results.
  • Coordinate Requirements: Coordinate requirements from multiple internal and external sources to the development team and help make decisions about how to address these requirements.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Troubleshoot issues related to data packaging and extraction workflows, geoprocessing tools, and Python scripts in current and past software versions.
  • Develop Test Cases: Maintain, design, and write test cases in Python for geoprocessing tools and related functionality, to ensure quality and performance.
  • Execute Test Cases: Execute both manual and automated test cases and analyze test results to determine pass/fail status, reporting results in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Document Software Capabilities: Write clear and concise help documentation topics that allow users to understand complex software capabilities and troubleshoot potential problems.
  • Communicate Software Capabilities: Create compelling blogs, videos, samples, and other content that illustrate new capabilities built by the team.
  • Present Software Capabilities: Present ArcGIS functionality in-person and online to groups of colleagues or the user community.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with Geoprocessing Capabilities: Familiarity with geoprocessing capabilities in ArcGIS, expressed through a portfolio, website, or other description of related work and projects.
  • Professional Experience: 2+ years of professional experience writing Python code.
  • Communication Skills: Verbal and written communication skills suitable for a professional environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and evaluate different strategies and propose alternative approaches.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience with managing multiple priorities and ability to multitask in an agile software development environment.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated and inquisitive, able to find answers independently, but willing to ask questions when needed.
  • Education: Bachelor's in GIS or a related field.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise: Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and Server, publishing services, and sharing content from ArcGIS Pro.
  • Project Management Knowledge: Project management knowledge or experience.
  • Advanced Education: Master's in GIS or a related field.
