The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in the surgical environment, ensuring that all anesthesia supplies and equipment are properly maintained and prepared for use. This position requires a commitment to patient care and collaboration with the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist anesthesia providers with the setup and connection of monitoring equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment after each surgical procedure.
- Maintain an organized inventory of anesthesia supplies and medications.
- Support patient positioning and transport as directed by the anesthesia team.
Essential Duties:
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet the demands of the surgical schedule.
- Prepare necessary equipment and medications for upcoming procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia carts and equipment.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs during anesthesia administration.
- Respond to emergency situations, including code blue events, with appropriate actions.
- Collaborate with vendors and maintain professional relationships for service support.
Qualifications:
Education: No formal education required.
Experience: A minimum of one year in a hospital operating room or critical care setting is required; experience in respiratory care is preferred.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory. Certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) is preferred.
