Position Overview:

The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in the surgical environment, ensuring that all anesthesia supplies and equipment are properly maintained and prepared for use. This position requires a commitment to patient care and collaboration with the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist anesthesia providers with the setup and connection of monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment after each surgical procedure.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of anesthesia supplies and medications.
  • Support patient positioning and transport as directed by the anesthesia team.

Essential Duties:

  1. Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  2. Prioritize tasks effectively to meet the demands of the surgical schedule.
  3. Prepare necessary equipment and medications for upcoming procedures.
  4. Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia carts and equipment.
  5. Monitor and document patient vital signs during anesthesia administration.
  6. Respond to emergency situations, including code blue events, with appropriate actions.
  7. Collaborate with vendors and maintain professional relationships for service support.

Qualifications:

Education: No formal education required.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a hospital operating room or critical care setting is required; experience in respiratory care is preferred.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory. Certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) is preferred.
