Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Operations Department at Hunger Free Colorado. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely processing of accounting and payroll functions, and providing exceptional support to our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting: Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books. Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Payroll: Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Benefits Administration: Coordinate annual Open Enrollment process, including collaborating with the brokerage team and Director of Finance and Operations to provide training and materials for employees. Utilize benefits management system to gather election decisions and ensure accurate transfer of enrollment changes from the benefits management system into the HRIS and payroll system.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and nonprofit accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT accounting software.
  • Proficient with Ready Pay Online (RPO) HRIS and payroll platform.
  • Proficient with NovaTime PTO and timekeeping platform.
  • Proficient with Bernie Portal benefits management system.
Work Environment

Hunger Free Colorado is a dynamic and diverse team representing varied racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds. We operate in a hybrid fashion, both in-person and remotely through Microsoft office platforms. The number of weekly in-person days vary.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this position ranges from $50,394 - $56,476 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Hunger Free Colorado offers an exceptional benefits package, including vision, basic life, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provided at no charge to employees.
