Job Summary

The Student Success Advocate - Restorative Justice will play a pivotal role in infusing restorative practices into the fabric of our school community. This includes creating and supporting systems that reduce conflicts, strengthen relationships, and foster a sense of belonging and community. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of child and adolescent psychology, as well as experience in conflict resolution and facilitation techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that promote academic, social, and emotional growth in students
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other stakeholders to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide individual and group support to students, focusing on conflict resolution, social skills, and emotional regulation
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in restorative justice and student support
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure seamless collaboration and support
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with children and adolescents in a school or community setting
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, conflict resolution, and facilitation techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Portland Public Schools

Portland Public Schools is a public employer and participates in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP). Eligible employees are required by statute to contribute 6% of salary on a pre-tax basis to OPSRP/IAP, after serving six months under a PERS employer.
