Your Role

We are currently seeking a Lead Geological Consultant with a keen interest in geohazard identification and mitigation, field mapping, and soil/rock logging. You will engage in projects with our Earth & Environment Team, contributing to a dynamic organization focused on fulfilling client objectives and resolving complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams on geological and geotechnical engineering initiatives that encompass field activities, site evaluations, data analysis, and office-related tasks.
  • Manage and support projects emphasizing geohazard identification, investigation, and mitigation, along with geotechnical engineering, design, and monitoring.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, including engineering drawings, specifications, work plans, and reports, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct research and draft comprehensive technical reports that summarize geological findings and conclusions, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation.
  • Create data visualizations such as geological charts, soil analyses, models, maps, and cross-sections to effectively communicate geological information.
  • Oversee subsurface field geological exploration tasks, including borehole advancement, dynamic cone penetrometer testing, and drilling activities for geotechnical instrumentation installation.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Engage with clients through meetings, progress reports, proposals, and correspondence, fostering positive relationships and addressing client needs.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of business strategies related to the growth of our sector services, providing market insights and facilitating marketing strategy development.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in geology or a closely related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience as an engineering geologist.
  • Proficient in geological research techniques and protocols.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and experience in geological research.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in geology, engineering geology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Geologist registration or eligibility for comity.
  • Experience with geomorphology and surface processes.
  • Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing data applications.
  • Strong project management skills with a client-focused approach.
