Role Summary

As a WOW Counselor, your primary responsibility will be to provide group counseling and direct support to female students in grades 6-12. You will empower these young women to develop crucial skills such as responsible decision-making, self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-acceptance, healthy relationships, and social responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess diverse clinical skills and the ability to engage youth effectively, inspiring them to excel academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 4-5 group counseling sessions weekly utilizing the WOW curriculum during school hours
  • Conduct clinical evaluations for each participant
  • Provide individual counseling for WOW participants
  • Offer family support and crisis intervention as needed
  • Complete weekly documentation and administrative tasks
  • Participate in WOW staff development and curriculum training
  • Assist in the enhancement of the WOW program through teacher training and school presentations
  • Collaborate with the Local School Council, Parent Programs, and the Pupil Personnel Support team
  • Engage in designated WOW committees
  • Represent Youth Guidance on boards and agency committees as necessary
  • Fulfill public relations tasks as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Background/Experience

  • A Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
  • At least two years of experience in group facilitation
  • Experience in clinical settings and youth engagement
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and frameworks
  • Previous experience in educational or youth-focused environments

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity
  • Creative engagement strategies for youth
  • Team-oriented approach to client support
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is highly desirable

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, communicate effectively, and operate controls
  • Close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis and computer work
  • Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds may be necessary

Work Environment

  • Primary duties are performed in a school setting
  • Some travel may be required
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.

Benefits Offered by Youth Guidance:

  • Competitive salary range of $54,000 to $70,000
  • Hiring bonus of $250 for part-time roles and $750 for full-time positions
  • Retention bonus of $250 after 90 continuous days of service
  • Comprehensive benefits package with no increased healthcare costs
  • Support for pursuing social services licensure, including study assistance, test reimbursement, and supervision hour guidance
