Role SummaryThe Youth Empowerment Counselor will provide group counseling and direct support to girls in grades 6-12, fostering responsible decision-making, self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-acceptance, healthy relationships, and social consciousness. The ideal candidate will possess flexibility in their clinical skills and youth engagement techniques to inspire girls to excel in their educational and personal journeys.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct 4-5 weekly group counseling sessions using the WOW curriculum during school hours.
- Perform clinical assessments for each participant.
- Offer individual counseling to WOW students.
- Provide family support and crisis intervention as necessary.
- Complete weekly documentation and special administrative tasks.
- Engage in WOW staff development and curriculum training.
- Facilitate the growth of the WOW program through teacher training and school presentations.
- Collaborate with the Local School Council, Parent Programs, and the Pupil Personnel Support team.
- Participate in assigned WOW committees.
- Serve on Youth Guidance Board and/or agency committees as needed.
- Handle public relations tasks as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or a related human services field from an accredited institution is required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in group facilitation.
- Experience in clinical practice and youth engagement.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and frameworks.
- Experience in educational or youth-related environments, such as juvenile detention or mental health facilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in team settings and independently.
- Cultural competency is essential.
- Creativity in engaging youth is highly valued.
- Positive, team-oriented approach to treatment and care.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.
