Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in obtaining high-quality blood samples for laboratory testing. Your expertise will contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using various phlebotomy methods, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes, demonstrating your ability to work under pressure.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, including nurses, providers, and other laboratory staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Utilize computer programs and systems to accurately identify patients, label specimens, and track results.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and laboratory efficiency.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances, with moderate to advanced computer skills.
