Lead Preschool Educator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Preschool Educator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the assigned classroom, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and State Licensing Regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and execute engaging activities tailored to the developmental needs of preschool children, aligning with the philosophy and Performance Standards of Head Start, as well as the Department of Education requirements and New Jersey licensing standards. Weekly submission of a curriculum-based lesson plan to the Child/Family Site Director and Education Manager/Coordinator is required.
2. Monitor, evaluate, and document each child's growth and development within the classroom. Design activities that cater to the individual needs of each child and maintain comprehensive records in both individual folders and a centralized database.
3. Ensure the effective delivery of services to children with special needs within the center.
4. Prepare and maintain essential records and reports, including a classroom sign-in/out sheet and a monthly report as requested by the Parent Center Committee.
5. Organize activities that engage parents in the classroom and promote home-based activities. Facilitate educational planning sessions with the Parent Committee or individual parents at least once a month.
6. Conduct home visits for each child at least twice during the program year and hold two parent/teacher conferences within the same timeframe.
7. Participate in training sessions and workshops provided by the program.
8. Assist with administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Child/Family Site Director or Education Coordinator/Manager, which may include providing on-site training to center staff and conducting individual conferences with classroom staff.
9. Undertake any additional Head Start responsibilities as directed by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education or a related field is required.
2. Must fulfill the qualification criteria as outlined in Chapter 122, Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers, State of New Jersey.
3. A reliable vehicle must be available for daily use.
