SUMMARY
At Cartesian Therapeutics, we are innovating in the field of Cell Therapies, aiming to deliver significant advancements for patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. We are seeking a Lead Scientist who will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of bioprocesses, as well as providing support for GMP manufacturing to facilitate critical Phase I & II activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently design, develop, and conduct experiments focused on bioprocess development (specifically CAR-T cell therapy), optimization, and characterization.
- Collaborate with both internal and external partners to oversee sample testing and the manufacturing of essential raw materials.
- Act as a subject matter expert in bioprocessing, providing technical guidance to support IND submissions and ensuring that clinical manufacturing adheres to established timelines.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at the development of new technologies and ongoing improvement projects.
- Independently prepare technical documentation including reports, protocols, SOPs, and risk assessments to facilitate technology transfer, manufacturing, and IND processes.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years (PhD) or 7 years (Master's) of relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency in various mammalian cell culture bioreactor technologies, particularly in upstream processes such as perfusion.
- Strong team player with excellent communication abilities.
- Experience in both indirect and direct leadership roles within multi-functional teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with statistical methods and experience utilizing Design of Experiments (DoE) approaches.
- Background in T-cell or other immune cell selection, expansion, and culture techniques.
- Experience with flow cytometry and ELISA assays.
