Program Director, MA in Counseling Program

Job Summary:
As a visionary leader, the Program Director, MA in Counseling Program, will be accountable for delivering a quality student experience. This role requires providing strategic leadership and management to ensure the success of the MAC program, including program design, curriculum development, assessment, and technology integration. The successful candidate will lead and manage academic staff, full-time faculty, and teaching faculty, fostering student development and actively engaging in educational governance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Program Management: Develop and implement plans to organize, direct, staff, and monitor operations of the MAC program, ensuring curriculum currency and leading the effort to review and revise the program to enhance the student learning experience.
• Internship Supervision: Oversee the internship programs for the MAC students, creating, approving, and supporting appropriate internship sites and professional relationships with agencies and supervisors.
• Teaching Excellence: Teach 3 courses a year or the equivalent, within compensation, as assigned by the supervisor, to ensure quality of program and student learning experience. Demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning while fostering student development, establishing a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
• Performance of Faculty and Staff: Monitor the performance of academic staff, full-time faculty, and part-time teaching faculty to ensure program quality. Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating, and managing expectations of direct reports, providing effective orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching to foster a respectful, empowering learning environment.
• Curriculum Development and Review: Ensure that program curriculum aligns with the CityU Academic Model, focuses on application and current practice, and meets applicable accreditation standards.
• Student Learning and Development: Oversee and advocate for student learning and engagement, proactively developing students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals, promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in mental health practice.
• Academic and Institutional Governance: Participate in academic and institutional governance by serving on councils and committees.
• Currency and Scholarship: Provide leadership to ensure faculty currency, modeling, encouraging, and promoting scholarship in teaching and learning.
• Service and Outreach: Participate in and promote professional communities in areas of expertise.
Requirements:
An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Counseling or a related field, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. Experience in higher education management and adult education, with a minimum of three years of proven experience in teaching, preferably in both in-class and online modes of educational delivery. Program development, administration, and leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading and managing in a creative and fast-paced environment. Ability to work comfortably with and manage virtual teams. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities. Ability to present an appropriate professional image. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.
