Job Title: MIPM Student and Academic Services Director

Job Summary:

The University of Washington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the MIPM Student and Academic Services Director. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of the Masters in Infrastructure Planning and Management (MIPM) program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist with all student recruitment activities, including developing an annual recruiting plan and conducting individual information sessions with prospective students.
  • Strategize with Department staff on approaches to build the College and Department brand through shared marketing on platforms like Planetizen.
  • Post regular updates on the MIPM LinkedIn account on alumni and students, infrastructure-related workshops and forums, and job opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with UW Continuum College Marketing staff to identify innovative ways to market the program.
  • Develop an annual marketing plan, select new images for digital advertising campaigns, review and provide updates to the program website.
  • Collaborate with CBE Advancement staff and UW Continuum writers to produce human interest stories on MIPM students and alumni.
  • Represent the program at University, industry conferences, symposia, meetings, or other events that contribute to the recruitment of students and raise awareness about the program.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and MIPM alumni.
  • Ensure prospective student tracking system is kept up to date by the MIPM Program Coordinator.
  • Lead the development and revision of admissions policies, procedures, and tools to support a holistic review process.
  • Manage the program's annual admission process, identify admission committee members, and serve as Admissions Committee member reviewing all admission applications.
  • Strategize with MIPM Leadership Team on ways to reduce admissions melt and attrition rates.
  • Produce annual admissions report and provide to Department and College management as requested.
  • Collaborate with Department Chair to determine when tuition increases are appropriate to request in order to meet rising program administration costs.
  • Manage the student notification process when a tuition increase is being requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as planning, public affairs, or business, and 4 years of experience in student affairs/services and/or academic advising or related activity.
  • Familiarity with UW administrative policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of UW Graduate School and Registrar policies.
  • Familiarity with UW Student Database and UW My Grad.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing online graduate degree programs and proven ability to identify and successfully respond to emergent problems and opportunities associated with this form of instruction.
