Position Summary:

The role of Project Engineer at Maintco is pivotal in delivering technical engineering and cost-related information to guarantee that construction activities adhere to all engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in job control measures to ensure adherence to contracts, budgets, schedules, forecasts, and job costing.
  2. Interpret design documents for craft workers to ensure compliance with specifications.
  3. Investigate and propose solutions to drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, and errors, ensuring all completed work meets applicable codes and specifications.
  4. Prepare and distribute essential documentation, including status reports and punch lists, to maintain accuracy.
  5. Provide technical guidance on project material controls, including delivery timelines and design requirements, to minimize additional costs.
  6. Create drawings and sketches to support construction activities, change orders, and estimates as job requirements evolve.
  7. Establish necessary building control lines and elevations for precise measurements and material installations, ensuring quality outcomes.
  8. Compile essential job data, including quantity take-offs and labor costs, to ensure accurate estimates and bids.
  9. Analyze historical data and productivity reports to develop guidelines for future estimates.
  10. Maintain organized files of working documents to support the accuracy of bid submissions.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years in concrete construction estimating, engineering, or field support is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and applicable building materials standards.
  • Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with team members.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include regular communication, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for computer operation. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This role may involve working outdoors and around large construction equipment, necessitating a strong focus on safety.
