Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and seasoned Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance our Riverside County operations. This pivotal role will involve reporting to our Bermuda Dunes office and serving as a senior authority within our geotechnical engineering division. You will be instrumental in delivering technical expertise and guiding the planning, design, and execution of geotechnical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage geotechnical, forensic, and construction projects, collaborating with clients, design professionals, and contractors.
- Plan and supervise soil exploration, including logging and classification.
- Coordinate laboratory testing to assess soil types, behaviors, and engineering properties.
- Evaluate geological and seismic risks, offering mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Analyze natural, fill, and reinforced slopes, as well as distressed structures and failed slopes, providing recommendations for remediation.
- Deliver insights on bearing capacity, earth pressures, and pavement design.
- Prepare proposals, schedules, and reports to ensure project objectives are met while adhering to budget constraints.
- Engage in materials testing projects, including concrete mix designs and oversight of technical staff.
- Maintain strong client relationships and foster business development opportunities.
- Mentor and develop field and laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering is required; an M.S. Degree is preferred.
- Must possess a CA Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification; CA Licensed Geotechnical Engineer (GE) is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical consulting, with at least 3 years in project management.
- Proven experience in client interaction and business development.
- Familiarity with materials testing, special inspection, and laboratory oversight is advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in advanced geotechnical and seismic analysis.
- Experienced with various geotechnical software applications.
- Strong decision-making abilities and sound judgment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Thorough understanding of project management principles, including work plans, schedules, and budgets.
