Job Summary
The City of Chesapeake seeks a highly skilled Office Systems Specialist II - VCIN to supervise or lead subordinate personnel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Train, schedule, assign, and evaluate work to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
- Maintain the VCIN/NCIC file system and collaborate with colleagues to cross-check VCIN entries for accuracy.
- Enter data into the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) with precision and attention to detail.
- Assist in ensuring that all staff certifications are up-to-date and re-certifications are scheduled accordingly.
- Provide training to department personnel and external agencies on VCIN certifications.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve VCIN issues in a timely and effective manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education.
- Minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
- Full Access Level VCIN certification.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement experience.
- Knowledge of Virginia State Codes, VCIN, and NCIC.
- Experience with Outlook and Microsoft software.
Working Conditions
This role requires working on rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays, and may involve working overtime when required by operational necessity. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
