Mass Properties Engineer Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Mass Properties Engineer to join our team in the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area. As a Mass Properties Engineer, you will be responsible for developing complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems throughout the product lifecycle. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy of mass properties on aircraft programs, from preliminary weight estimation to final aircraft weighing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain mass properties databases for aircraft programs
  • Conduct regular weight status updates and ensure accuracy of mass properties
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop complex aerodynamic components and systems
  • Apply advanced engineering principles and practices to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Author SAWE RP8 reports and ensure adherence to SAWE RP7 guidelines
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
  • 17 or more years of relevant experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Advanced experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Thorough understanding of SAWE RP7 and prior experience authoring SAWE RP8 reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with wind tunnel and aircraft flight test
  • Exposure to aircraft stability principles and control system design and analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, and fundamentals of flight mechanics
