Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing is a key member of the Lincoln University Athletics Department, responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to promote the university's intercollegiate sports programs. This role requires a strong understanding of athletic media relations, marketing, and public relations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate athletic media and marketing plans to promote the university's intercollegiate sports programs.
  • Manage all athletic public relations, including media relations, publications, and social media.
  • Oversee the management of in-game statistics and records, as well as their distribution to visiting opponents, the CIAA, and the NCAA.
  • Design and maintain the athletic website, including content creation, statistical data, records, and history.
  • Manage and monitor the athletic department's social media platforms.
  • Provide public relations advice and counsel to the Director of Athletics, athletic staff, and student-athletes.
  • Market the athletic program to various venues and develop or manage the creation of graphics for social media platforms.
  • Manage all aspects of live stream platforms, including staff management, third-party groups, and television productions.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including late nights and weekends.
  • Experience in streaming and broadcast operations, including Blue Frame/Production Truck/Scorebot.
  • Management of third-party entities for live stream, statistical services, social media content creation, and game-day staff.
  • Working knowledge of website management, preferably SIDEARM.
  • Maintains and updates the Intercollegiate Athletics Website.
  • Serves as primary media contact for multiple programs, managing media relations, publications, and social media.
  • Helps execute the department's social media strategy across all platforms to increase viewers and creative content.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the media, coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, parents, fans, and alumni.
  • Must be able to supervise communications staff, including interns, contractors, and third-party entities.
  • Assists with the creation of various videos for social media, in-venue, and marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and job requirements.
  • Experience in assigned work area, knowledge of marketing and promotional programs, and experience/exposure working in different types of NCAA Division II settings.
  • Must be able to support the University's and Athletics Department's mission.
  • Create an atmosphere of compliance while adhering to all OSHA, NCAA, CIAA, and Lincoln University Athletic Department & University Rules and Regulations.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize events and conditions dealing with fundraising and the management of the athletic program.
  • Proficient in StatCrew, NCAA Genius, and other statistical software.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate files and records.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Organize tasks and time to ensure timely completion of all projects and responsibilities.
  • Adapt to and support a changing work environment.
  • Work extended days and weekends.
  • Ability to operate an automobile, possession of a valid driver's license, and an insurable driving record.
  • Travel by air or ground transportation.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
